I lift up my soul to the Lord in prayer today, based on Psalm 86: 1-4:
Hear me, O, Lord. Answer me. For I am poor in spirit. Weary. Struggling to persevere. I am needy, and without You, I will give up.
I stumble, grumble. My light flickers.
Guard my life, my heart. Because, even in the midst of my struggle, I am devoted to You. When I fail and falter, the desire of my heart is to be steadfast.
You alone are my God.
Save your servant who trusts You. And I do trust You.
The struggle, the wrestling, is me trying to figure out where You want me.
I know instead I must be calm, gentle, sure of Your sovereignty and goodness.
And so I ask You to bring joy to my heart and soul. Replace my angst with the peace that passes all understanding.
For to You, O Lord, I lift up my soul.
