Francine Rivers is one of my favorite Christian fiction writers. I’m happy to introduce her newest book, The Masterpiece, to you today. It’s a contemporary Christian romance and story of redemption.

The MasterpieceBecoming Christ’s Masterpiece

Grace Moore and Roman Velasco meet when Grace is sent by the temp agency to become his personal assistant. They seem as different as night and day. But both had traumatic childhoods that keep them from trusting themselves or others.

Grace Moore believed in Jesus since she was a young girl. However, that didn’t keep her from making mistakes and having to pay the consequences. A single mother who almost gave her baby up for adoption, she needs a job to support herself and her son. She longs to turn her life around and avoid repeating her past mistakes.

Roman Velasco started his artistic life as a tagger known as the Bird. The demons of his past haunt him, preventing him from being satisfied with his lavish home. Even while making it as a modern artist, Roman paints graffiti on the back wall of his studio, painting over it at the end of every night, hoping to fill the hole in his life. He scoffs at the need for God until a near-death experience frightens him and he realizes the consequences of a life without Jesus.

What I Enjoyed Most about The Masterpiece

Many authors would have a happily-ever-after ending the moment Roman accepts Christ as his Savior. Instead, Rivers moves Roman and Grace apart. They both realize they need to focus on their relationship with Christ before each other. We get to see Roman learn to trust God and others while Grace makes peace with her past and learns to step forward in faith instead of fear.

True, lifelong love blooms when they put Christ first. The stories of Grace and Roman of Christ inspire us all to put Christ first and let Him transform us into His masterpiece.

In her author’s note, Francine Rivers explains:

Jesus didn’t come to enhance our lives. He came to save us.

This is one of the reasons I wrote The Masterpiece. It isn’t only about two broken people trying to find wholeness together. It’s about where wholeness can be found for each and every one of us. In Christ Jesus No place else.

If you’re looking for a new romance that is clean and focuses on true love, The Masterpiece is the book for you.
