Today, instead of looking at what God does for me, I sit in His presence and thank Him for who He is. Instead of racing through life, I am still, knowing He is God. I take time to exalt Him. I choose a thankful heart because He is worthy of my praise.
O God, my God,
Only You are God, the great I AM. Unchanging. Eternal. (Exodus 3:13-15). In this ever-changing world, You remain the same today, tomorrow, and forever. (Hebrews 13:8).
You and only You are holy. “Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come! Worthy are you, my Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power,” (Revelation 4:8 & 11).
You are love (1 John 4:7-10) and everything You do is done in love. Thank You for this gift, for loving despite the sin that hurts You. A love so great You sent Your Son to save the world. Even me.
And more, God. You are Jehovah-M’Kaddesh, the Lord who sanctifies me. (Leviticus 20:8), cleanses me with the blood of Jesus (1 John 1:7), seals me with the Holy Spirit. (Ephesians 1:13)
I praise You for Your goodness, God. You are good and do good (Psalm 119:68). Your steadfast love endures forever, and Your faithfulness to all generations (Psalm 100:5; Psalm 136:1).
Thank You, God, for Your peace that passes all understanding (Philippians 4:7) You are Jehovah-Shalom (Judges 6:16-24) guarding my heart and mind and driving out fear with Your peace.
You are compassionate. When I flounder in the depths of despair, You are El Roi, the God who sees and El Shama, the God who listens (Genesis 16:7-13) and comes to comfort me.
Thank You, God, for being You. I love You and praise You because You are God.
Amen.

I love praising Him for who He is. Thanks for reminding us of His attributes. I especially love His name, El Shama, the God who listens. So often in this life, I find myself being the listener for others. Yet He is always willing to listen to me!
I love that He always listens and cares about what I have to say. Happy Thanksgiving, Jerralea.
This is so refreshing for my soul, to sit here and worship God in these minutes through these words. Thanks so much, Debbie!
So glad you’re refreshed in His presence, Lisa. Happy Thanksgiving!
Beautiful names of God! Thank you for sharing this list. Sometimes I forget that part of worship is just meditating on God and his names (and what each name means).
Anita, I, too, get caught up in what He does instead of Who He is. Happy Thanksgiving!
A hearty amen! Praising Him with you!
